Ian Basey is a seasoned executive with expertise in all aspects of the electronics industry, specifically semiconductors and global distribution. Ian is a long-time member of the Shea Group, having first joined in 2015. 

Ian moved to the Americas from England in 1995 while working with JBA International, a European IT solutions company and led their efforts to develop a successful entry strategy and model into the North American market. 

When JBA was purchased by Avnet Inc. in 1999, Ian led the Hallmark divisions product marketing and marketing communications efforts, including the rebranding, customer engagement and business strategy evolution, implementing change management initiatives and a ground-breaking B2B marketing automation system.

In 2001 Ian moved to Avent’s global electronics marketing team and had several key marketing and operations roles, working on several re-branding initiatives as well as engaging in M&A activities, developing business strategies to promote new online revenue streams and driving market share growth through a customer-centric model.

Ian moved to WPG in 2015, the world’s largest electronics distributor, where he leads the Americas Marketing Operations team and has specific focus on strengthening partner opportunities, globalizing business strategy with a goal of optimizing profitable revenue and maximize return on investments.

Ian received a Bachelor of Communications from Sunderland University, England. Ian is a keen golfer, enjoys skiing and hiking and lives with his wife Helen in Scottsdale Arizona. 

Throughout his career, Isaac Bunney has held senior positions as a lender, team builder, and collaborator in the capital raising space. He founded and exited Wiser Banking, a company aimed at revolutionizing the intersection of businesses and capital. At Wiser Banking, Isaac pioneered the development of a technology platform, facilitating seamless connections between companies seeking funding and potential funding sources.

Isaac joined the Shea Group in 2015 and served as Chair in 2020 and 2021 and Vice Chair in 2019. He has served on numerous Shea Group committees including: programming, on-boarding and community involvement. 

Isaac currently is the Managing Director for a specialty finance company that lends to SaaS, PaaS, IoT, MSP industries. He understands the value of equity and works to keep the founders and early investors aligned with the continued growth of their company. 

Isaac proudly embraces his heritage as a native of Arizona. Raised in the copper mining community of Miami, Arizona, Isaac inherited a strong work ethic and a profound appreciation for his upbringing. 

Isaac is actively involved in coaching his two boys and finding adventures with his wife, Amanda. With a blend of Arizona grit and a spirit of adventure, Isaac works to have an impact on both the business world and the communities he holds dear.

 

With decades of experience in communications for technology companies, Linda worked for both global corporations such as Motorola and Intel and global agencies including Brodeur Partners and LVA Communications. She joined the Shea Group in 2019 and served as the group’s chair for three consecutive years. 

In 2010, she founded the communications consultancy TechTHiNQ, where she provided strategic direction and managed staff and later sold it to Brodeur Partners. She also has deep experience in providing marketing, public relations and executive communications counsel to client CEOs and senior executives.

Linda holds a master’s of arts in mass communications from Arizona State University’s (ASU’s) prestigious Walter Cronkite School, a bachelor’s of science in business administration from ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business, and an associate’s in electronic engineering from Columbus Technical Institute.  Linda is a champion of diversity and women’s rights and loves to travel and spend time in nature. 

Brion Crum, a dedicated Opportunity Zone fund expert and conscious capitalist, is passionate about sustainability and wealth development through commercial real estate. As the VP of Wealth Development at Caliber Companies in Scottsdale, Arizona, he has spent over nine years fostering wealth-building opportunities for investors. Caliber, recognized for its innovative approach in real estate investment, specializes in private equity, Opportunity Zone Funds, and more, managing a diversified portfolio worth over $600 million. Brion’s commitment to sustainability extends to his role as a founding board member at Sustainability Advisors and his involvement with MyLand, an agricultural soil health company.

Brion is a long-time member of the Shea Group and has used his extensive professional network to further advance the group’s objectives. He has served on numerous committees and is a dedicated and valued participant. 

 

In addition to his professional endeavors, Brion serves on several boards, contributing to organizations like vCandidates.com and the C-Suite Network, and offers strategic advisory to initiatives such as WHEN® Way of Life. With a background in finance, including a stint as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, and a deep commitment to community service and environmental sustainability, Brion’s career is marked by a blend of financial acumen and a dedication to positive societal impact. His education in Finance and Aviation Management from The Ohio State University underpins his multifaceted approach to business and philanthropy.

 

Greg is a native of California and moved to the Valley 4 years ago. He has more than 30 years of progressive experience as a human resource generalist and compensation professional. His areas of expertise in HR are compensation, benefits, employee relations and recruiting. He has held management and executive level positions in human resources at Hallmark Cards Inc., JM Huber Corporation, Cummins Inc., Tribal Health and currently at Sun Health. Greg joined the Shea Group in 2022.

Greg holds a BBA degree from George Washington University and a MS degree in Systems Management from The University of Southern California. He is member of the Forbes Human Resources Council.

Prior to his Human Resource career, he served in The United States Army as an officer, helicopter pilot, and veteran of Operation Desert Storm.  Outside of work, Greg enjoys spending time with his family, working out and live music. 

From starting businesses to taking over underperforming ones, Bill Goodwin has a 25+ year track record of taking businesses to the next level. Most recently, as the CEO of MeMD, a national telehealth company, Bill transformed the company, accelerated its growth, and led the successful acquisition of MeMD by Walmart Health. Currently, Bill is leading all virtual care for Walmart Health. Bill became a valued-member of the Shea Group in 2018 and currently serves as its Vice-Chair. 

Before becoming the CEO of MeMD, Bill spent 20 years running and transforming four different entrepreneurial organizations, ranging from 20 to 400 employees, with $2 million to $180 million in revenue.  As CEO, Bill grew a healthcare analytic company that specialized in providing data-driven strategic and marketing insights to healthcare systems across the U.S. Prior to that, Bill had senior executive roles in the e-commerce, industrial applications, technology reseller, and training and development industries, including as the CEO, President, or COO.  Bill also started a training and development company that was later acquired by a Fortune 1000 technology reseller.

Bill earned a Master of Business Administration degree in global business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Colorado State University.

 

In his spare time, Bill leverages his experience gained from his ongoing mentoring efforts with entrepreneurs and leadership teams in the Phoenix technology ecosystem. Additionally, Bill volunteers to speak to companies and technology groups on culture and fostering employee engagement.

 

Randy is a senior executive leader able to achieve hallmark results with skills shaped by the best practices of multiple, diverse industries, including: U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarines, hi-tech Government and Defense contracting, consumer brand and product marketing, hedge fund investing for high-net worth and institutional clients, management and strategic consulting for early-stage companies, online SEO and Lead Generation marketing, and economic development assisting thousands of hi-tech startups and entrepreneurs for the State of Arizona.  He is defined by his integrity, leadership, teamwork, energy and passion.

Originally raised in Phoenix, Randy returned to The Valley of the Sun for family reasons in 2006. He has been a member of the Shea Group since 2007, and then formed 1+1=3 Business Ventures as a consultant in 2008. Randy worked for the Arizona Commerce Authority for 10 years and was once recognized by the media as one of the Top 20 People to Know in the startup community. 

In 2022, Randy joined the executive team (as a Vice President) of AlgoFace, Inc. – a cutting edge, Face AI analysis and detection startup at the intersection of Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Generative AI – where he is responsible for business development initiatives with corporate, corporate venture, and government organizations. 

Randy holds a BSEE from the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis) and an MBA from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).

Founder of Lloyd Media Group (LMG), a full-service video production company, Stacy Lloyd delights in helping organizations bring their stories to life. Recognized for her extensive journalism background and video production expertise, Stacy is known as the video whisperer. Her ability to humanize the video production experience leads to compelling narratives that hook an audience. For 20 years, she has aided her clients in distinguishing themselves from the competition.  

 

Stacy joined the Shea Group in 2023 and serves as an expert source of knowledge for how to create compelling, polished, and professional video content.

 

Before LMG, Stacy served as Vice President of Media Relations at The Hawthorn Group in Alexandria, Virginia. While at Hawthorn, Stacy was immersed in a Fortune 500 company’s new national corporate giving and community involvement program. 

 

Working in television news as a reporter and producer for more than 15 years allowed Stacy to cover stories worldwide. She joined the Fox News Channel’s Washington DC Bureau as the network’s ratings skyrocketed. Her last assignment covered the Iraq War from Kuwait City and Baghdad. Her stories include the September 11th attacks, the War on Terror, the Shuttle Columbia tragedy, the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping, Hurricane Lili, the Queen Mother’s funeral, the 2002 Winter Olympics, the Timothy McVeigh execution, and the 2000 political landscape. 

 

Before Fox, Stacy worked in newsrooms in Tucson, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Topeka, Kansas holding various positions.

 

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Stacy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arizona. Active in the community, Stacy is currently a Steward for the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. Previously, she was a board member for the Phoenix Film Foundation, Citizenship Counts, Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, and Fresh Start Women’s Foundation.

 

 

Paul Miller is a collaborative leader who effectively develops impactful strategies for food and agriculture businesses, one of which he owned and operated. Paul was an active member of the Shea Group  beginning in 2005 and was welcomed back in 2024. 

While earning his B.S. in Agricultural Economics at Cornell, Paul learned about the need to develop policies that focused on creating effective solutions to hunger, poor education, and job creation. He went on to earn a M.S. in Agriculture Economics at Michigan State and then began his career in various operations, sales, and procurement roles at a large beef processing company. 

Paul subsequently completed an MBA from Harvard University and later acquired Upper Crust Bakery; a small Phoenix bakery owned by Big 4 Restaurants. He significantly grew the business over ten years into a highly regarded provider of Artisan breads and desserts before selling it in 2001. 

In 2009, Paul joined Kincannon & Reed, the leading Global Executive Search Company with a sole focus on food and agriculture. As a Managing Director, he led the Food Sector business until 2023 with a partial focus on non-profits, including St. Mary’s Food Bank and the Gates Foundation. He also attends and participates in the board meeting of Greyston Bakery and the Greyston Foundation.

Carl V. Nablo is the Managing Partner of Ascendency Global. The firm is engaged with both Domestic and International Entities in Strategic and Tactical Business Consulting. Mr. Nablo also consults to numerous clients and serves on multiple boards assisting extensively on consulting models, finance, sales, marketing and business development. 

As a founding member of the Shea Group, Mr. Nablo has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the organization since 2005 and keeping it accountable to achieving meaningful outcomes. 

Mr. Nablo was lead mentor at ASU EIG Group and additionally Arizona Furnace which is a multiple platform consortium that promotes and develops intellectual property coming out both the University Systems and Industry. His work has also taken him to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  He assisted and mentored the startup accelerator programs and delivered corporate innovation training with Saudi companies (Saudi Aramco and SABIC).  

In addition, Mr. Nablo successfully championed the advocacy of technology and innovation by co-founding the MAC6 Manufacturing, Innovation and Technology Center in Tempe, Arizona. This effort lead to becoming a member of the White House Business Council and Economic Forum.

Mr. Nablo has extensive senior P & L leadership in both public and privately held corporations and entrepreneurial environments. He has lead as CEO, President and COO numerous global industrial, technology and process organizations through strategic change and rapid growth. 

An avid volunteer in the community, Carl works with Canine Assist Dogs and is on the Advisory Board of Gabriel’s Angels. Mr. Nablo and his wife Barbara reside in North Scottsdale and have been married for seven years.

Mr. Nablo holds a B.A from the College of Arts & Sciences at Bucknell University in Lewisburg Pennsylvania. Mr. Nablo also was a multiple Athletic Letter recipient in Baseball while at Bucknell (Division 1) and active in Student Government and Governance.

 

Will is founder of Next Delta, a consulting firm that helps SMBs grow. He has an extensive background in turnarounds and startups with recognized credentials including MBA, CPA, CIA and CTP. He specializes in unique Financial Modeling and Business Dashboards aimed at helping owners and managers capture the essence of their business and stay ahead of the ever-changing environment they operate in by “Thinking (It) Forward.” 

As a long-standing member of the Shea Group, Will has taken on significant roles in the organization including Treasurer and he regularly volunteers for numerous committees. 

The diverse C-level roles of Will’s career allowed him to gain expertise in sales, marketing, finance and operations. He has more than 30 years of experience managing businesses in distress and growing companies. He was a principal in the international consulting firm of Philip + Company for 10 years and served as President, COO and CFO in several manufacturing, distribution, E-commerce, retail and service companies. His passion is acting as a change agent to assist stakeholders through difficult transitions.

Will also joined forces with a local college to develop nearly 50 educational courses aimed at helping small businesses. The Small Business Executive program was unique as it was designed to help these leaders to acquire skills and knowledge relevant to the management of their businesses.

Vincent Orleck is known for his dedication to fostering innovation and community through #yesphx, Greater Phoenix’s vibrant startup ecosystem. His career in digital and social media marketing is marked by significant achievements and roles at organizations like azcentral/Arizona Republic, Facebook, IO Datacenters and Arizona State University. His expertise is not just in crafting compelling narratives for brands but also in strategically growing their digital footprints to engage with diverse audiences effectively. With a Master’s degree in Digital Audiences Strategy from Arizona State University, he continues to push the boundaries of digital marketing with his forward-thinking approach.

Outside of his professional life, Vincent is deeply rooted in his community, contributing time and insights to local startups and tech initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to driving growth and diversity within the sector. Originally from Providence, RI, he’s resided in Greater Phoenix since 2005 and specifically Mesa since 2009. 

He’s also a passionate sports fan, a devoted father, and a perpetual learner, always seeking out new knowledge and skills in the ever-evolving digital landscape. His approach to marketing and community involvement showcases his belief in the power of digital tools not only to connect people but also to create meaningful, lasting impacts in both the business world locally and society at large.

Gabriel currently serves as the director of marketing and business development for the advertising agency McKinney (Adweek Agency-of-the-Year Finalist: 2022). He joined the Shea Group in 2023 where he brings his unique experience with publishing, media, advertising, and interactive and strategic insights into how to make an impact in the constantly evolving digital landscape. 

Upon earning a B.S. in Marketing, and Marketing and History from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University (ASU), Gabriel began a 13-year career with media and publishing conglomerate Gannett Co, Inc.  

Gabriel currently serves as an advisor to several technology start-ups, is on the advisory board for the ASU Innovation Open, and is an advisor to Grand Canyon University’s Digital Arts and Advertising program.

Since his current role as an organizational development intern 20 years ago, to his current role as President of SOLVE, Merle Riepe leverages his 20 years of experience to focus on outcomes and analytics in selection, leadership development and employee engagement. 

Merle is a long-time member of the Shea Group and has taken on leadership roles in several committees and board positions including Membership. 

He enjoys coaching C-Suite executives and emerging leaders to help them successfully enter the next phase of their careers. Merle provides expertise on selection processes and assessments that reduce turnover, increase the quality of new hires and promotions, improve productivity and minimize business risks associated with poor hiring.

In 2015, Merle and his team launched HireForward®, proprietary assessment software that integrates unrivaled assessments and customizes profiles based on the job role and company culture.  HireForward filters out all the noise inherent to personality tools and provides hiring managers with the critical inforamtion they need to make the right decsion. 

Merle draws from his expertise in behaviorial statistics to heighten the value of employee enegagement surveys. He guides clients through all the masses of data while demonstrating how to implement actions that will create meaningful and lasting change for the organziation. In 2014, Merle and his team introduced EngagementForward®, an employee engagement action planning software that helps managers transform data into initiatives to achieve higher levels of engagement through leadership accountability.

A dedicated learner, Merle maintains membership in the Society of Consulting Psychology and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology to ensure he remains current and innovative for his clients. 

Merle resides in Scottsdale, Arizona where he enjoys coaching high school girls basketball and spending time with his family.

 

Joan Saunders is a seasoned former executive with expertise in all aspects of the auto warranty insurance business, from sales to operations to IT. She is a long-time member of the Shea Group, having first joined in 2015. Joan is instrumental in helping the organization with its IT requirements. 

When serving as the CEO of CNA National Warranty, Joan delivered three consecutive years of record-setting profits for the company. She then accepted the challenge of interim CEO of private-equity-owned GWC, focusing on improving cash flow, reducing expenses, and re-training the sales force.

Joan was COO of both SilverRock, a startup affiliate of Drive Time Used Cars, and Door Works, a manufacturer and installer of custom wood doors. She implemented software solutions enabling both companies to handle significantly more business without increasing headcount. Currently, Joan helps businesses implement best practices and technology in her management consulting practice. 

Committed to community involvement, Joan volunteers her time as a mentor for Arizona State University’s (ASU)’s full-time MBA program and as a committee member for Stardust Non-Profit Building Supplies.

Joan received a Bachelor and Master of Science, both from ASU. She enjoys skiing in Colorado as well as hiking and gardening in the Arizona desert.

Wayne Smith is a business executive with over 35 years’ experience, having achieved senior level management successes in small and medium sized companies in a variety of industries. He joined the Shea Group in 2012 and has been one of the organization’s most active members serving on numerous committees. 

Wayne co-founded an information technology company achieving annual revenues of $20 million. After 15 years, he managed a successful merger with a larger company.

His experiences throughout his career have provided him with the proven ability to determine strategic directions, then bring together the resources, stakeholder relationships and systems to execute the strategies. His most important talent is in building and managing integrated teams of all disciplines to achieve corporate objectives.

Through his current company, NextLevel UP, Wayne is now focusing on enabling small and medium-sized businesses to achieve results at the next level through internal and external alignment of their organization. 

Wayne has been involved in Arizona’s startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem for over 10 years. For the last eight years, he has been actively engaged in Arizona State University’s (ASU’s) entrepreneurial startup program, Venture Devils, having mentored over 40 ventures. This experience led to an opportunity to teach at ASU’s Fulton School of Engineering specializing in the integration of Entrepreneurship, Technology and Management.

Wayne has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration.

 

Charlie Tombazian joined the Shea Group in 2007 and was instrumental in shaping the foundation of the organization. Today, Charlie resides in Boulder Colorado as an alum member of the group where he also helps companies grow through differentiation. The services his company Principal Innovative Strategies provides include customer experience improvement, creative strategic planning, employee engagement, and emotional intelligence-based leadership development. Charlie’s past consulting clients include Chase Construction Group, StrongMind, MicroAge, Shelvspace, Allstate, Solera Health, Tallwave, Everest College Phoenix, MobiSquad, Hunter Contracting, Aon and Harley Davidson University. 

Prior to his consulting activities, Charlie spent nine years as VP, Voice of the Customer Office and Director, Global Strategic Planning for Avnet Inc.’s $8 billion Technology Solutions business. Prior to Avnet, he was Director of Marketing for Phoenix-based Pilgrim Funds, 1999 Inc. Magazine’s 9th fastest growing company in America. Over 12 years, Charlie was VP Marketing & Planning, Elected Officer, Strategic Information Officer, and Field Office Manager with The Acacia Group, a diversified financial services company, based in Washington, D.C. 

A frequent speaker for business groups, past engagements include Sales Enablement Society, Chief Executive Network, Advance Forum, and AZ Growth Advisors. His presentation “True Differentiation for Growth” received rave reviews. He was also a closing keynote speaker for YPO’s Business Transformation Summit. Charlie is past Adjunct Faculty at Grand Canyon University and University of Phoenix, teaching MBA and Masters in Leadership courses. For Western Governors University, he developed curriculum in critical and strategic thinking. Charlie has a BA in Philosophy and MBA from University of Colorado Boulder. 

Charlie enjoys spending time with his wife and family and presenting to students at the Fiske Planetarium at University of Colorado Boulder in a volunteer capacity.  

After a successful career with multiple dynamic and rapid-growth high-tech companies, Kathy now divides her professional efforts between providing business consulting/advisory services and donating her expertise to non-profit and social benefit organizations.  She applies her extensive experience leading cross-functional strategic planning, enterprise transformation, scaling and maturing business capabilities, and mergers/acquisitions in multiple industries.  In Arizona, Kathy was Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer at Taser/AXON.  In California, she held senior leadership roles in Tesla Motors, Salesforce, Symantec, NetApp, KLA-Tencor, Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics (SGI), and IBM/ROLM.  

Kathy is a passionate sustainability advocate. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Stardust Nonprofit Building Supplies as Past Chair, and co-founded and leads the Valley of the Sun Deconstruction/Reuse Work Group, spotlighting and promoting deconstruction, reuse & sustainability progress, plans & goals.  Kathy serves as Vice-President of the Board of Directors of her Homeowners Association and Chair of multiple committees. She served for 8 years on the Environmental Planning Commission for the City of Mountain View, California (the heart of Silicon Valley), where she helped develop Mountain View’s 2030 General Plan, and as a Mentor with WOMEN Unlimited, Inc., The Women’s Organization for Mentoring, Education and Networking.

Kathy’s education includes a combined degree in Architecture and Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University; the Singularity University Abundance 360 Executive Program; and an Arizona State University Professional Certificate in Sustainability Strategy.  She has been a member of the Shea Group since 2018.  A fun fact is that Kathy was a magician’s assistant during college.  She and her husband enjoy doting on their canine rescues, along with a wide range of interests.

Diana Vowels is a community builder, investor and founder with a passion for driving the tech ecosystem forward in Phoenix.  She is the co-founder of Pet Ortho Braces, an innovator in the pet rehabilitation market

She joined the Shea Group in 2012 and has tirelessly used her talents and connections to serve the greater good of the organization. Her positive attitude and creativity have been instrumental in keeping the group focused while simultaneously having fun.

She previously served as the CEO of StartupAZ, the organization created to catalyze Arizona’s technology and innovation ecosystem by connecting and empowering entrepreneurs. Diana, who has long been at the forefront of Arizona’s technology and startup community, served as VP/Community and General Manager of Galvanize, where she led the launch of the software engineering and data science bootcamps and built the co-working space into a vital part of Phoenix’s startup fabric. She currently serves on the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley and Venture Madness board of directors, and was the 2021 chair for the Venture Madness conference. 

Diana is a graduate of University of Missouri and has held executive roles in public and private companies in media, healthcare and technology. She resides in Scottsdale with her husband and two daughters.   

Michael is a seasoned executive with over two decades of leadership in the technology and manufacturing sectors, notably as the former President and CEO of Amtech Group, a leading semiconductor company. His expertise spans strategic planning, operational excellence, and innovation-driven leadership. Michael is renowned for his adeptness at steering companies through challenging times, particularly highlighted by his pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, which ensured not just survival but also growth in adversity.

In 2024, Michael joined the Shea Group, bringing his extensive public company experience and valuable C-Level insight to the team. Beyond his professional endeavors, Michael is deeply committed to veteran advocacy. He leverages his experience to support transitioning service members and focuses on suicide prevention among veterans. As he explores new opportunities, Michael continues to serve and inspire with his visionary leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication to making a meaningful impact.
